Description

With this thread, you can provide your clay jars with a screw thread. Fits the standard PET bottles or soap dispensers perfectly.

 

IMPORTANT: Every clay shrinks during firing! You need to scale the tool according to the shrinkage factor of your clay to obtain a suitably scaled version. This will ensure that the lid will fit in the end.

 

SCALING MATH:

 

( 1 / ( 1 - ("YourShrinkingRate" / 100 ) ) - 1 ) * 100

 

If your clay shrinks 14%: ( 1 / ( 1 - (14 / 100 ) ) - 1 ) * 100 = 16,28

→ You need to scale the object 16,28% bigger.

 

There are 3 different thread cutter with different rotations (see pictures).

Hi there-- is this just at a 100%? that is, if my clay shrinks to 12% I would scale up to 112%? Thank you!

Actually, that's not how the math works ;) at 12% shrink, they need to be 13.6% larger

Great simple print. Just don’t forget to scale it up to account for the shrink rate of your clay! Also, like someone else suggested in one of the comments, adding a plate that includes the “negative” version of these (to test the fit of the threaded cap / lid you’re using) would be ideal!

Prints great! I set the scale too 113%, checked the inside diameter after print and its right around 31.5mm, perfect for my clays shrink rate. excited to use it!

What "standard" PET screw ratio are you using? I've tried two different shrinkages, and I cannot get these to work with 28/400 tops. Typically, threads are specced diameter/thread height.
