Description

When I backpack, I use the HydraPak Seeker Series of water carriers for collecting dirty unfiltered water and storing filtered water.  My method uses a smoke colored (color name is Mammoth) Hydrapak Seeker to collect dirty unfiltered water and I store filtered clean water in a pale green HydraPak (color name is Sutro).  It's easy to remember so I don't get things mixed up: dirty water goes into the smoke colored bag, and clean water goes in the light green bag.

For filters, I rotate between Sawyer Micro, Squeeze, Micro Squeeze and Katadyn BeFree filters.  Fortunately the threads are all the same.

I made three adapters to cover most all circumstances you may face to connect a dirty water container to a filter to a clean water storage container.  This is particularly important for Sawyer filters where if you do not use the included plastic pouch as a dirty water bag, you can use a larger capacity dirty water collection bag with the cap having male threads to connect to the Sawyer filter.

Since Katadyn BeFree filters come with a 1L or 3L dirty water collection bag, it's only necessary to use the HydraPak adapter cap with female threads.  See photos for visual examples.

A summary of the three caps included in this listing…

HYDRAPAK CAP with FEMALE THREADS:

Accepts the clean water-out ends of Katadyn BeFree filters, Sawyer Squeeze filter and Micro-Squeeze filter, but not the Sawyer Mini (I solve for that below).

HYDRAPAK CAP with MALE THREADS:

Accepts the input dirty water-in ends of the Sawyer Squeeze filter and Micro-Squeeze filter, but not the Sawyer Mini (I solve for that below).

HYDRAPAK CAP with Hose Nipple:

Accepts the input OR output of all Sawyer water filters, and some other filters, using a standard 5/16" ID silicon tubing.

So, when I print the Cap with Male Threads, I print it in some “dirty water” color, in this case gray, to remind me that it is to be used for unfiltered dirty water (think gray for dirty water).  I print the Cap with Female Threads in blue, to represent “clean water” and it should only be only used for clean filtered water (think blue for clean water).  This system seems to work for me - it may work for you as well.

Thanks for looking at my model and good luck on your prints.  Be sure to post a photo of your awesome completed prints to share with others!
