Description

This is new windshield trim for the honda del sol, it's not a recreation of the original but a completely new design that eliminates the stupid plastic clips that always break and utilizes built in channels to lock into the factory metal studs on the a-pillar of the car, plus I modeled in spots to glue in 3x6mm magnets for an extra secure connection to the body that doesn't require adhesive!

Since the trim would be too long to print on any 3d print bed I have split it into 3 pieces that can all be printed at once. You will have to super glue them together after printing.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS:
This is modeled for TPU specifically, so I'm not sure if hard filament would work, the flex of TPU is very helpful for installing it.
Print in whatever settings you normally print TPU
Supports ARE needed, tree organic works best

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS are in the pictures but basically you place the trim past the bottom of the windshield about 5in so that the metal studs line up with the openings in the back channel I modeled, then you use two hands, or your forearm to firmly press down on the whole trim uniformly while sliding it up, this locks the metal studs into the back channels. Then you can either insert the male top into the middle trim of the windshield (it may require removing some adhesive under the top factory trim) or you can simply cut the end of my trim until it's flush with the top and glue it in place.

Yeah I think del sols are getting to the age where the plastic clips and stuff are breaking, my original trim piece flew off on the highway when i drove through a snow storm a couple of years ago lol

can you make this trim for the civic eg?

I wish I could but this was really hard to make for the del sol because I don't have a 3d scanner, I had to do everything by tons of measurements, pictures and test prints. I also don't have access to an EG to model from.

do you have a file for the other side?

Yeah for some weird reason makerworld just downloads one side when you click download 3mf, but you can find both sides if you hit the drop down box and click "download stl/cad files", then you'll see both sides.
