I sought a resourceful way to repurpose discarded Bambulab cardboard spools instead of discarding them. Therefore, I designed a modular storage rack for small items.

Rack Construction

The spools are securely held together using specially designed connectors. This construction allows for complete flexibility in the arrangement and number of spools. Connectors should be used both front and back. Each weighs only 2 grams, making them highly resource-efficient.

Thanks to a precise fit, the connectors hold without adhesive—they simply snap into the spools with gentle pressure. For the bottom spools, additional supports are provided if you don't want to place the rack directly on a table or shelf surface. However, these are optional.

Customizable Inserts

To enhance the rack's practicality, I developed various inserts, similar to the Gridfinity system. Currently available are:

  • A drawer
  • A half-drawer with a shelf

I hope the community will create even more useful inserts. The drawers consist of three parts and are assembled with a few drops of adhesive—allowing for support-free printing.

Your Ideas Are Welcome!

Do you have suggestions for further inserts or improvements? Please share your ideas in the comments! I welcome constructive feedback. If you like the project, please leave a like or a boost so that even more people can discover this sustainable idea.
