Dada Tiles - Magnetic Building Blocks

Introducing Dada Tiles!

My kids love building with their magnetic tiles, and asked if I could print them some more. So, I designed these from the ground up to work with off the shelf readily available magnets (20x5x2) as well as to be compatible with several of the major commercially available magnetic tiles (Magna-Tiles, PicassoTiles, Connetix).

These were the magnets I used, but any 20x5x2 sized magnets should work. If anyone has a good source for cheap magnets this size, let me know!

Layer height is non-standard (0.19mm) to get the correct thickness. Additionally, these are printed with 3 top and bottom shells for uniform magnetic strength and good surface quality. Infill % doesn't really matter, but 10% works well.

Make sure to print from Bambu Studio (and not the handy app!) so that the print pauses for you to insert the magnets!

Place the magnets on top an existing tile as a template to make sure your magnet polarity is correct. If you don't do this, your tiles will not work properly and may repel each other instead of stick together! Once the print pauses, use the printer's onboard controls to lower the build plate, and place the magnets in the pockets in the same orientation you removed them from your “template” part.

Once the magnets have been placed inside the pockets, hit resume on the printer to finish the print and lock them in place!

These are designed to print quickly; the small square tile takes about 30 minutes.
