Description

I was just playing around with this Bambu Wood PLA. I decided I wanted to just try to make a Victorian / steam-punkish / rose engine style tool handle. I made an awl with it, but you could use it for screwdriver handles or whatever else.  I wanted a design that felt good in the palm with fine control. I find this size works well for my adult sized hand, but you can size it up or down as desired keeping in mind the hole at the base of the handle is ~5mm and about 56mm deep.

Materials required:

-Nail or Drill bit ~5mm or 3/16ths" in diameter and about 75mm or 3" long.

-Super glue

Tools required:

-Drill

-File or bench grinder

To make a scribe tip:

-Chuck a broken or dull drill bit you don't mind destroying or a nail roughly the diameter of the hole (5mm) in a drill and simply hold a file at and angle to the tip and file it into the point as desired. If you want to scribe metal parts, I would suggest using a hard steel like a drill bit rather than a nail. A drill bit will stay sharp longer.

-Once you have the tip sufficiently pointy insert it in the handle. If it's hard to seat in the hold you can chuck the scribe you just made into a drill and twist it into place.

-Finish with a drop of superglue at the rim of the hole.

Done!
