Description

UPDATE 3/17/2025: I have added another coaster to the 0.2mm profile, Peeper-Pain.

UPDATE 3/15/2025: I initially wanted to upload four new 0.4mm designs, but I was unhappy with the quality so I reprinted three of them with a 0.2mm nozzle and they turned out great. I've updated the 0.2mm profile to include the new coasters.

UPDATE 3/12/2025: I've added a new coaster, Thrashin' Gourd. This coaster requires a 0.2 mm nozzle, and because of this, it has it's own profile.

I have at least four more regular (0.4 mm nozzle) SurlySpheres coasters that I'll have to upload soon.

Also, I have created a quick tutorial on how I made these coasters and uploaded it HERE in the forums. Anyone can make their own, It's super easy to do, no CAD skills necessary.

I've been printing a lot of coasters recently and I decided to use the “keychain” maker to create a set of SurlySpheres coasters inspired by a toy line from the 80's. Printed on an A1 with a 0.4 mm nozzle, and mostly Bambu Labs PLA Matte. The silver in Shut-Jaw is Bambu Lab PLA basic Silver, and the green is just generic, dollar store trash that I probably shouldn't be putting in my A1, but I'm hesitant to use gift cards to place an order until an announcement about the new printer.

Also, the Keychain maker should just be named Image to 2D. It can make a lot more than keychains. These coasters were super easy to make with it, and playing cards would be just as easy.

WOW! it came out great!! Can’t wait to print the others! I’m an 80’s baby and remember these designs from back in the day. I used the 0.2 nozzle as suggested and left all the other settings as is. Thanks for the design!

0.2 mm nozzle takes forever, but these come out fantastic. I printed the pumpkin ones face down on a BIQU Cryogrip Pro Frostbite build plate. They have a nice slightly textured glossy surface (2nd pic has intentional glare to show it). Can't tell they're 3D printed. I printed one as a test with the Arcane slicer set the default minimum wall width of 85%, but noticed that even with the 0.2 nozzle I was missing some detail. Printed the full plate of them with the minimum wall width set to 75% and they came out noticeably better. I'm guessing it was mainly due to the squish against the build plate and probably wouldn't be an issue if you print face-up. First pic w/ 2 of them has 75% Arachne wall width on left and the 85% on right. The little spider clearly shows the difference. I've never tried <75% so don't know if it could be even better. I'm printing a huge one (max I could fit on H2D build plate) w/ 0.4 nozzle next to use for Halloween decor. :-)

You can see in @Demon0ne 's review that the spider came out even better when printed face-up without tweaking settings, so it's almost certainly a "squish against the build plate" issue for mine. I still like the effect I get printing them face-down though.
