Description
This project entails the development of a smart planter designed to monitor substrate moisture levels and alert the user to the need for irrigation. The system uses a visual indicator based on three states: green (moist), yellow (semi-dry), and red (dry), aiming to simplify plant care by clearly and easily identifying when watering is necessary.
For aesthetic integration within the home, a minimalist 3D model has been designed to house all components functionally and discreetly. System control is achieved via an Arduino microcontroller, to which a moisture sensor and three LEDs (green, yellow, and red) are connected to represent the different moisture states. An on/off switch has also been incorporated to control the system as needed.
To ensure portability and practicality, the device features a rechargeable 18650 battery and a battery charging module, eliminating the need to disassemble the planter for recharging. A power connector complements the design, ensuring efficient energy management.
Components Used:
- Power connector
- On/Off switch
- 18650 Rechargeable Battery
- Battery charging module
- HW-390 Moisture Sensor
- Arduino Nano Microcontroller
- 5mm LEDs (1 red, 1 green, 1 yellow)
This project blends technology and design to provide a practical and modern solution for home plant care.
