I have designed a fly box for short trips. I need to carry a handful of streamers. Other boxes are too large and bulky for a short fishing trip of 2-3 hours. The internal dimensions are 122mm x 59mm x 18mm (l x w x h). The closure is a twist lock that can also be opened with cold fingers. I printed the box in PLA and PETG. This worked well. When attaching the lid, please be careful and do not misalign it.

On the second plate is a template that can be printed if needed. This allows you to cut your foam more easily.

The foam in the box is glued in and of course needs to be procured as needed. The one shown here is from C&F.

Have fun!

I have yet been able to get the twist lock to be able to work with PLA. As soon as I press it into the base. it breaks. Great idea though.

I apologize. As a quick solution, I suggest slightly sanding down the tip of the twist-lock before your next attempt. I once broke one myself; I hadn't held the closure perfectly straight. I then placed the closure on the table and guided the box towards it. This allows for better grip and control.

I use PETG for the box, it is more flexible and robust than PLA

I'd say, don't use PLA. Using PLA sounds kind of bad for something that will be out in the sun and the weather

Over all really good but had to re print the plugs a few times to adjust the size and the nob for the front didnt fil the hole made for it but didnt take to much work. Printed it on a Bambulab A1 with normal PLA, so might have been something on my end not being fully optimal
