Description

This is a super simple calibration model that can be printed in a matter of seconds.

 

I have included profiles for all standard print heights on 0.4mm nozzle, but if you'll find the model useful I can add additional profiles for 0.2 and 0.6 nozzle.

 

Here's what you can use the print for:

  1. calibrate elephant foot offset

    1. print the model with elephant foot compensation set to 0
    2. measure the print, the rectangle is 15mm on X and 20mm on Y
    3. update the settings in slicer and print again to verify you're getting the correct results (for me it was 0.15mm)
  2. check the true thickness of first layer

    For some practical prints precise dimensions are very important so you can verify the actual height of the first layer to incorporate that in total Z of the design

  3. check the quality of first layer

    The ‘General PLA’ profile in bambu studio doesn't work perfectly for all filaments so the model can be used to quickly check the quality and verify if full time consuming calibration is required

  4. check the min layer height applicable as first layer for different bed plates

    Bambu studio always defaults to 0.2mm for first layer, but that's not always preferable, using the profiles for different layer heights you can verify if there's going to be sufficient bed adhesion and quality if you decide to change the setting, e.g. I found that none of my plates will manage to do 0.08mm first layer, but 0.12 is perfectly fine
