Description

AquaSpike – Turning Forgotten Spaces Green, One Drop at a Time

💧 Sustainable Watering for Guerrilla Gardeners 💧

Cities today are filled with wasted spaces—empty lots, abandoned corners, and patches of dirt overtaken by invasive weeds. But what if we could reclaim those spaces, one plant at a time? The AquaSpike is a low-profile, self-watering spike designed to help guerrilla gardeners establish greenery in neglected urban environments without drawing attention.

Plastic trash is everywhere, and while we can’t always stop it, we can repurpose it. The AquaSpike is designed to screw onto a discarded soda or water bottle, slowly releasing water into the soil to support plants over time. It blends in naturally—looking like just another piece of litter—while working to transform the landscape into something greener, more vibrant, and more alive.

This is designed to work on bottles from the USA, it may not fit the bottles if you are from a different country.

UPDATE:

I added a rubber washer from the hardware store to prevent leaking. I don't think that the leaking is a huge issue since you are trying to water that area anyway, but if it is an issue for you I added a washer that should fit to the Bill of Materials of this model.

Why It’s Useful for Guerrilla Gardening:

Uses waste to sustain life—repurpose plastic bottles into a slow-drip irrigation system.
Blends into the environment—low profile and unobtrusive, making it ideal for discreet planting.
Keeps plants alive longer—reduces water waste while ensuring steady moisture.
No maintenance required—just refill the bottle when needed.

How to Use the AquaSpike:

1️⃣ Find an empty soda or water bottle—unfortunately, they’re easy to come by.
2️⃣ Fill it with water or a diluted plant nutrient solution.
3️⃣ Screw the AquaSpike onto the bottle.
4️⃣ Turn it upside down and push the spike into the soil near your plants.
5️⃣ Let it do its job—the slow drip will keep plants hydrated over time.
6️⃣ Refill as needed and watch your secret garden grow.

The AquaSpike is part of my Guerrilla Gardening Tools Collection, a set of designs meant to help everyday people reclaim their cities, one plant at a time.

The cities of tomorrow start with the seeds we plant today. 🌱💧
