Phone Charging Station: Opportunistic DfAM Example
Print Profile(1)

Description
This phone charging station allows you to charge your phone at an outlet without the need of a table or similar flat surface. It's perfect for workspaces, shops, or other out-of-the-way places where you find it inconvenient to plug your phone in.
It's easily customizable by downloading the .3mf file and changing the infill pattern to whatever you prefer! I chose gyroid on mine because I think it looks cool, but cubic or honeycomb look pretty neat too. I'll put up profiles with those if anyone requests.
My design is based on an original idea posted to GrabCAD in 2017 by Anthony Smith. I redesigned it as part of an opportunistic Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) challenge in my program at Penn State University. Opportunistic DfAM is when you utilize the abilities of DfAM to create something that isn't possible using conventional manufacturing methods.
This design is a direct example of utilizing AM design methodologies to improve a design. Please see the attached Opportunistic DfAM document for more information.

Thank you, and happy printing!
