Description

Get ready for an electrifying battle of balance, strategy, and magnetism! In Polarity Panic, players take turns placing their hexagonal game pieces inside the play area, standing them on edge. The challenge? Avoid triggering a magnetic chain reaction! If two or more pieces snap together, the player must pick them up and add them back to their stack. The first player to place all their pieces successfully wins the game!

This exciting, fast-paced game is perfect for family game nights, parties, and friendly competitions. With unexpected twists caused by magnetic forces, every round is a thrilling test of skill and strategy.

How to Play:

  1. Setup
    • Place the string border on a flat surface to create the play area.
    • Each player gets an equal number of Polarity Panic hexes (suggested 10-15 per player).
    • Decide turn order (youngest goes first or roll a die).
  2. Taking Turns
    • Players take turns placing one hexagon at a time inside the play area, standing it on edge.
    • The goal is to strategically place pieces without causing them to attract others.
  3. Magnetic Chaos!
    • If a player's move causes two or more pieces to connect, they must pick up all connected pieces and add them back to their stack.
    • Play continues clockwise.
  4. Winning the Game
    • The first player to successfully place all their pieces without triggering a reaction wins!

Advanced Play (For a Greater Challenge!)

Want to ramp up the tension? Try these variations:

  • Timer Mode: Players have only 10 seconds per turn—think fast!
  • Team Play: Partner up and work together, placing pieces strategically while sabotaging the other team.

What You Need to Print:

  1. Polarity Panic Hexes
    • Two versions available:
      • Kids Play: Uses Bambu Lab 6x3mm cylindrical magnets for lighter magnetic force.
      • Advanced Play: Uses  Bambu Lab 12x3mm cylindrical magnets for stronger interactions.
    • Size: 30mm 10-sided hexagon with a single magnet slot in the center.
    • Printing Tip: Pause at layer 40 to insert the magnet before resuming printing.
  2. String Border
    • Paracord or any other string to define the play area.

My wife asked my to buy the commercial version of this game for her. I found this so figured I'd make it for her instead. Turned out great! If you want an idea to level up the design a bit, a custom box to store the complete game in would be a nice touch.

I made mine adjustable with two knots. the smaller the quicker the game. I use about a 15 inch circle most of the time.

Fun game. I would not recommend the version with the smaller magnets because they are too weak. It might be good for younger players who do not have great coordination yet. For adults, I would almost recommend going with an even bigger magnet, but this is a great starting point.
