Hexagon Shelf
Print Profile(3)

Description
I created a shelfing system using a large hexagon with connection features. The shelves are large and will need a build volume of at least 350mm x 350mm x 350mm. I printed near the largest I could on the Prusa XL.
Printing:
I printed the hexagon shelves with PETG-CF in order to retain durability, add a matte finish, and carry a lot of weight if they needed, I printed with supports only near the mounting hole to support the feature.
The location jig needs to be printed with the supports. It has some slop built in to allow for any over extrusion or support debris being left.
The shelves fit together perfectly with inserts. When mounting simply add one screw into the wall where you would like one of the shelves. Be sure to have the joining insert where you would like to joint he shelves mount the one component and and simply connect another shelf ensuring the location jig is attached. Slide it into position and ensure the base shelf is level. Then just simply slam the new shelf with location jig to ensure you leave a dimple in your drywall. After the second screw is installed they subsequent shelves can be added easily.
Another way to mount is to completely assembly the shelf and have another person help you hold it up to the wall and pound the shelves that have the location jig. I did this method and it worked perfectly. Only the top shelves will need screws.
UPDATE 3/15/2025:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was requested to make a 250mm x 250mm x 250mm Version. (Bambu X1C, P1S, P1P, Prusa MK3, Prusa MK4…)
- I scaled the shelf down and ensured a small screw/wall anchor was able to fit in the mounting hole
UPDATE 3/27/2025:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was requested to make a 180mm x 180mm x 180mm Version. (Bambu A1 Mini, Prusa Mini)
- Shelf was scaled down,
- Shelf joiner slots were moved a bit outward from center by 8mm to expand the support area.
- Location Jig Thickness was increased slightly to prevent it from breaking because of the scaling.
BE SURE TO THROW UP YOUR MAKES! I WANT TO SEE YOUR COLOR COMBINATIONS!
