40 years of Woodworking and I can say this is brilliant! My only suggestion would be to make the treads coarser.

This is an awesome little sanding block. I'm really blown away by how well it's engineered and how the threads just work perfectly (printed on an X1C). I just sliced off a 1-7/16" strip of sandpaper from a normal sheet on a Fiskars paper cutter and it fits perfectly. I would love to see a smaller, scaled down version that works with the short side of a sheet of sand paper too!

Reducing it is not a problem, I printed it but I already gave it to a friend.

do you by chance remember the scale? I wider version of this block would be nice too. Thanks

not sure if you’re still looking for this, but I printed this sander at 81.8% scale and it now fits perfectly with the 9” side of a sheet of sandpaper!

totally functional as is, and smooth print. A couple potential tweaks (understandably printed in PLA, I should print this in ABS): overall length could be shortened just a tiny bit so the sand paper sits all the way in the clamp (full length strip from a sheet), and maybe coarser threads as I already feel them stripping.

Rear wheel is a bit hard to turn, the rest seems OK :)

In some cases, this may happen, depending on the printer and filament's accuracy. In most cases, however, everything works, according to user reviews of the model.

This happened to me while printing with ASA. I separated the components and reduced the size of both screws and both sections of the rear tension by a small amount. All of it fits extremely well now.

This is great, and well designed. Would love to see another version that is 2.75" or 69mm wide. That would give you more sanding surface and 4 strips from a sheet of sanding paper.

I used a lot of Teflon grease to get the screw to turn smoothly

Hi, I printed several sizes, the thread always worked, it has a slight resistance but for me it is desirable that it does not loosen on its own. You can certainly lubricate it if you prefer.

Some resistance on the extension screw on mine also BUT as I printed the blocks in PLA & screws in PETG (was already in the AMS) it came out better than I expected. Excersising, and a some liquid silicone helped considerably. Excellent design.

Hi there! 😊 I've recently featured your amazing design in one of my videos, and it’s been getting great reactions— several viewers even asked where they can buy it! Would it be alright if I kindly mentioned your membership page to help direct interested people your way? Of course, I’ll include proper credit and a link if you’re okay with it. 🙏 Just wanted to ask first before sharing anything.

A nice sanding block. It feels good in the hand. All the threads in my print worked perfectly. The tensioning block is slick. Be advised that the clamping block is not symmetrical. It'll probably work whichever way, but there is a forward and rearward orientation to it. A smaller version would be desirable or at least instruction on reduction percentage to achieve a specified size. KISS. Since dimensions aren't given in the listing here they are. This block is approximately 5-1/4" long (133 mm). It takes a length of sanding paper approximately 11-3/4" x 1-7/16" (300 mm x 35 mm). I wouldn't shorten the length. It's the 1/4" on each end that really provides the bite for the clamping block.
