Description

Transparent Mosquito (Micro-CT Scan 3D Model)

This is a 3D model of a mosquito, segmented from a real micro-CT scan, revealing its internal structures. In my YouTube video, I used PolyJet multi-material printing to make the exoskeleton transparent while highlighting the brain and proboscis in different colors.

Features:

🦟 Real micro-CT scan data – Accurately segmented mosquito anatomy
🔬 Scientific visualization – Shows internal structures in detail
🎓 Great for education & research – Learn about insect anatomy
🖨 Flexible printing options – Print the exoskeleton or internal structures separately

Since many people asked for the model in the comments, I'm uploading it here! I’ve included the original segmented STL files, so you can choose to print just the exoskeleton, just the internals, or both separately. While you won’t get the transparent effect on an FDM or resin printer, you’ll still get a highly detailed mosquito model.
