Description

I was looking for a retail display for my keychains, but none did everything I wanted.  My list was:

  1. Adjustable
  2. Modular
  3. Individual hangers, not one long rod

I wanted to be able to have each keychain on it's own hanger so people did not need to remove all the other keychains to get to the one in the back.  I wanted to be able to adjust how many arms the display had to allow it to grow with my inventory. Lastley I wanted to be able to remove or replace parts without having to make a whole new model.

The base has a diameter of 225mm making it stable enough to hold the display stable.  There are 4 recesses in the bottom to allow you to add 12.7mm rubber pads to prevent the stand from shifting.  I use these pads.

Scotch Clear Adhesive Bumper Pads 40 PCS, Self-Stick Rubber Pads 1/2" Round, Cabinet Door Rubber Bumpers, Designed to Protect Cabinets and Drawers, Sound Dampening, Transparent (SP951-NA)

I have two shaft lengths to accommodate different keychains.  I like using the 150mm on the bottom and the 130mm on the top.  You can easily do them both the same length.

The spinner is my favorite part.  You can choose between 4 or 8 arms, and of course, they can be changed at will.  The hanger arms have 5 individual fingers to hold the keychains, allowing each one to be removed separately.  Each spinner is made of 3 components; top and bottom mount and hangers.  The mounts have slots and notches aligning the arms in the correct locations.  You simply insert the ends of the arm into the bottom circle and then sandwich them with the top.  Everything is just press fit and they hold together well.  The next shaft or top with keep them together.

Building the whole display is pretty straight forward.

Screw your desired length shaft onto the base.  After assembling the spinner, put it onto the shaft.  Screw the next shaft on and tighten until it reaches the spinner.  You can adjust how free the spinner moves by simply loosening the shaft by a little bit.  The nature of 3d printed threads allows for a “notched” feel, so once you have it set, it stays that way.  Now you just add another shaft, then spinner and finish it off with the top.

I have two tops to choose from.  One has a notch for any sign you design, it just needs to have a 5mm base to fit into the slot.  There is also a top without a slot if you don't want to add a sign.

This is my first true 3D model and print, so likes, downloads and boosts will help me immensely.

EDIT:

I changed the design of the arms to have a more secure hook.  The new arms are not the default print profile.  I have the old style arms on their own plate.

EDIT: 3/18/25

I modified the spinner to have 4 recessed nuts and bolts to hold them together more securely.  You can still use them without the bolts, but if you add too much weight, I've noticed the plates can start to separate causing the spinner to expand and not spin as freely.  I used 4 M3x10 socket head bolts with nuts.  I have supports for the recesses, just pop them out from the top side using the bolt, or allen key.

EDIT: 3/21/25

I decided to hollow out the shafts as well as add a taller 190mm shaft if you need more height.  I also turned on supports for the 150mm and 190mm shaft so you have more contact area to the build plate without adding a brim.  You poke your plyers into the bottom, grip and unscrew the supports just like it was a bolt in a hole.

I also added a new plate that has all 16 arms on it so you can print an entire diplay worth at 1 time.

You can check out my model with different arms here

Several broke due to the overly tight thread. This was resolved by setting the thread section to 100% and sanding it. Afterward, it was perfect

Fantastic print! I was looking everywhere for a keychain/ornament rack for purchase. Nothing came close to what I needed and I just don't have the time to design one. This display is PERFECT in every way - easy print on A1 Mini, easy to assemble, spacing is great and it turns really smoothly! It made it's debut with my Christmas ornaments at a recent market I vendored at. Thank you SOOOO much!!!
