Indian Gopichand
General Description:
The Indian Ektara - Gopichand is a traditional one-stringed musical instrument, recreated as a fully functional 3D printed model. With a height of 49 cm when assembled, the instrument produces authentic sounds and is perfect for both decorative and musical purposes.
Design & Functionality:
- The Gopichand consists of a central resonating body and two flexible side arms that are slightly bent.
- The single string is tensioned between the tuning peg (Saitenspanner) and the bottom of the instrument.
- The tuning peg is designed larger than usual to allow for more precise adjustments in pitch.
- The unique sound of the instrument is achieved by squeezing the side arms together during play, which dynamically changes the pitch of the sound.
Assembly Instructions:
- Print all parts with 0.2 mm layer height for maximum precision.
- Test-fit the side arms into the slots on the head and body.
- For better stability, it is recommended to glue the side arms to the head and the resonating body.
- Insert the string and wind it carefully onto the tuning peg.
Adjust the tension to the desired pitch.

Printing Tips:
- Supports are only required for the tuning peg area.
- Print with PLA or PETG for a more rigid structure.
- Use a low infill percentage to give the resonating body better acoustic properties.
Usage:
✅ Authentic musical instrument ✅ Decorative piece for music enthusiasts ✅ Educational project to understand string instruments
