Description

Bambu Lab AMS Desiccant Spacer _ AirMax.5   !!! not for AMS 2 pro !!!

This desiccant holder is designed as a spacer inside the Bambu Lab AMS system. Its drying efficiency in AMS is more substantial because two large perforated side walls sit next to the filaments. At its maximum (while the sliding door can still close), the amount of desiccant one AirMax.5 carries is around 162 grams. Each AMS can fit in three AirMAx.5, which sit onto the filament dividers.

PRINTING

ABS-GF  is the material I used for AIRMAX.5 for its higher heat resistance (99 C), AMS compatibility, and relatively lower cost. Though the surface quality is not as good as PLA, despite that I have already printed at .08 mm layer height and .008 mm resolution, I think this is probably a more economical choice that can be used in most of the consumer-level filament dryers, which have the highest drying temperature at 70 C.

I printed it at .08 mm layer, which I hope to get the best surface quality model, but with ABS-GF, it always comes out a bit rough.

SUPPORT REMOVAL

Please wait for the print to cool down for a few minutes, but not completely cold. I found that it is the best time to break the support, which is easier and cleaner.

Please Note:

  1. The feasible temperature of drying AirMax.5 with desiccant in a filament dryer depends on the MATERIAL it is made of. The higher the grade of material used, the higher the drying temperature AirMax.5 can tolerate.

  2. The temperature in the AREA CLOSED TO THE HEAT SOURCE in a dryer tends to be HOTTER than the degree set up with.

  3. DEFORMED SPOOLS or WIDEN FILAMENT SPOOL by uneven filament coil would impact the tolerance between the spacers and filament spools and may cause the spool to roll unsmoothly.

  4. The perforated side wall has enough thickness to hold the desiccants and maintain its rigidity, but will not survive with excessive stress inward.

  5. AIRMAX.5 is compatible with AIRMAX.1, you can have them both work together inside the AMS without a problem.

     !!! Enjoy !!!

Boost Me (for free)

Please boost this design if it has benefitted you, and instead of " buy me a coffee", I highly recommend getting the AIRMAX.5 station base for drying @ Printable ( Link below )  for its convenience and same cost for " a cup of coffee " :) Much Appreciated!!

Your boosting @ Maker World and purchasing @ Printable is extremely appreciated. This has made it possible for more projects to come (..or come faster !?)

Update on the upcoming!

AirMax.4

Thanks for reaching out about the release time of AirMax.4. It takes quite a lot of time working on this one. Now that my printer is back revived and the AirMax.5 is published, will get back on track to kick it out asap!!
