Description

[ Read the following instructions before ]

This model is a wide bottle holder with the option of 3 bases heights.  The large top section is designed to accommodate wide bottles such as the Nalgene 1000ml / 32oz (bottles are about 93mm in diameter) without handles. Fits also the Owala FreeSip bottles with a silicone protector added (32oz / 946ml).

The design is in 2 parts : (a) the top wide cup with a female screw base and (b) the bottom screw, to let you tweak the height.

Your boost makes a difference, it's a simple and FREE way to say thanks and is greatly appreciated.

[ Part a ] Top wide cup

The top (a) portion of the holder is the same for all the 3 bases, it is not adjustable.  The holder for your bottle is about 94mm x 72mm (deep). This is a tall cup expander, you will not be able to insert a tall bottle if the holder in your vehicle is located under the dash.  You need 152mm + "the bottle height" to insert a bottle in this monster.  Don't down-rate my awesome 3D model for this, you've been informed.

I have embossed an elegant pattern in around the top expanded cup section (yep, I think it looks elegant 😊) , so the finished look seems less bulky and does not give a cheapo 3d printed vibe.

[ Part b ] Base - bottom screw

For the base (b) several screw heights are included in the file, so you can choose the height for your vehicle :

  • Tall screw - 62mm tall ;
  • Medium screw - 52mm tall ;
  • Short screw - 42mm tall.

Check the technical drawing for the detailled dimensions.

The file includes 3 plates, but you only need to print 1 plate, according to the height you need for your vehicle cup height. Review the diagram with all the measures, the 62mm is the overall base height with the screw all the way inserted.

The base is a little conic, the bottom diameter is 70mm and it tapers to 72mm on top.  If your vehicle holder is smaller than 72mm or the ribs are tighter, this will not fit and its not the fault of my super 3D model. Don't down-rate my incredible and cool cup expander design because you failed to measure, we all know this one is totally on you.

You can unscrew the bottom portion to "tweak" the height so he bottom will rest on the solid bottom of your vehicle holder.  Unscrewing the base will create a gap between the parts (a) and (b) and the expander may get grabbed by your vehicle retainer clips ... ask me how I know 🤦.

[ Printing ]  No supports required.  Just select your plate and print.

Bridging : On the top object (a), the inside of the screw hole is purposely designed with a funky cross embossed inside. This is intentional to allow the printer to create the overhang bridges (mid air 3D prints) with no supports, I hate supports in 3D prints.  Bridges are better looking when they are printed in straight lines, thus the rectangle cross embossed shapes. Even I included this very well taught feature in my design (yep self brag here), bridges look "so so" after printing because they sag a little and don't even the surfaces.  Good news, this bridge is not a visible face, it's hidden underneath, nobody will see this and yes, no supports … victory.

Adapt the print material for your intended use such as PETG, etc.  PLA will not perform well in a hot summer car.

I emboss my little SY3D logo in my models, this is unfortunately required because, some users steal 3D models files and post stolen files on other platforms.  I know you won't do that, but I hope you understand this little embossing is a "minimal" defense because they are so lazy, they don't even do a good job at removing the logos.

[ Assembly  ]  : Screw and hydrate (hydrate with the water in your Nalgene, don't drink from the cup expander).
