Description

A very basic model that I designed in Inventor (.ipt included), to store the hotends for the A1 & A1 mini printers.

The holder makes use of the magnets on the back of the hotends (be aware though my 0.6 & 0.8 hotends had the magnets reversed polarity to the others, check before FIRST!!)

You will need 10 x (5mm x 1mm) NdFeB magnets, like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002757383658.html

You will also need OPTIONAL 4 x (8mm x 4mm) rubber feet, like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001297404341.html

Some CA glue.

The print is designed for 0.4mm nozzle @ 0.2mm layer height without the use of any support material, base side down on the build plate.

I have very simply used a contrasting colour for the text on the top.

Once printed take each of your hotends in turn and place 2 of the round magnets on the back of the hotends own magnet, this will guarantee the correct polarity of each set of magnets. While the round magnets are in place, mark their visible faces using a sharpie or similar, something that will not rub off.

Now carefully and just one magnet at a time until the CA glue is dry, pull a round magnet from the back of a hotend, sharpie mark towards the print & glue it in one of the circular recesses, (see 3rd image), near the top of the print corresponding to the placement of whichever hotend you are holding.

When the first magnet is secured in the recess and CA glue cured, repeat for the second round magnet for each hotend.

It is tricky as these magnet really want to jump together.

DO NOT get glue on hotend or try to place the hotend in the holder until the CA glue has cured fully.

Optionally now you can fix the 4 rubber feet in the base recesses.

*** Hey all, I just noticed that my description here has a whole lot of text missing from the middle section when viewed on the Handy app. Please see on Makerworld.com for the full description, thanks ***
