Instax WIDE Display & Travel Case (2-Pack version)
Print Profile(1)

Description
This collection of designs for FujiFilm Instax Wide films is one of a family of designs I'm made for all the Fuji Instax film formats. I've designed a total of 24 variants in all, for the four Instax formate (mini, Square, and Wide), so if you are interested, please check out my full profile where you can see the other collections.
If you have any FujiFilm Instax experience, then you know that storing them is a struggle. Both long-term storing, or even when taking snapshots, where do you put them as they are spit out of the camera? Well, here's my solution! Designed for the full experience! Before the film is used, my cases can hold one or two (depending on the design you choose) film packs/cartridges, and can easily go in your pocket or bag. Then, as you are taking your snaps, you can place the recent masterpiece shot in these cases for easier handling and film protection. Then, once all full up, I've designed the case to be easy to flip through to find that specific banger you are looking for. Leave the lid off and they become bookshelf of coffee/end table decorative pieces. Great to before use, during use, and long-term display or storage!
This is entirely an original design (by me), but I would be remiss if I didn't give credit for the inspiration to a design I saw, which can be found here. I liked their overall design. Big kudos to the teamwork they and their daughter practiced in making it! But I also saw room for a lot more potential, so I decided to start making measurements and cracking at my own version.
Here are some of the features that I specifically set out to include:
- Multi-formats: Made versions for all the Instax sizes/formats ("mini", "square", and "wide")
- Capacity: I made a (standard) single film pack version, and a double-deep (2-pack) version of all the formats too.
- Versatile: Made the cases big enough to support holding the Instax film cartridge, so it can serve multiple uses, such as:
- Basic "carry a spare pack" holder
- While snapping away, slide those hot shots straight into the case to free your hands and protect them from getting bent or lost
- Fill them up with all your masterpieces for long-term display and/or storage. They are designed to make the sheets easy to see and thumb through, so great for coffee table displaying
- Easy and reliable locking mech: A case's closing/locking technique is an important feature, since it directly affects usability. I've refined my snap-lock mechanism to a point where I consider it pretty simple, yet great to use. It is evenly balanced, and doesn't make you struggle with it. Oh, and it has a really satisfying "click" sound when putting the lid back on too. Squeeze the top's face and lift while steadying the bottom part. Easy but also secure.
- Enhanced handling: Added some thumb/finger grip bars to one side to make opening (or even carrying) easier. We all know how slippery 3D print material can be. These help a lot.
- "Stackable" or "UNstackable" versions: Created two versions of all the designs. One is stackable, with interlocking grooves built into the face and back, so when you stack multiple cases they don't slide about (see previous comment about slippery printed plastics). These interlocking grooves have a really cool pin-stripe aesthetic that I really like. The UNstackable version comes without the interlocking grooves for a more smooth overall appearance. Choose your preference!
- Custom removable nameplates: Created a label/nameplate holder on the side of the case, so you can install custom nameplates (we call them "placards" where I'm from, but I won't do that here) for reference. My design makes it so you can easily and quickly change/replace them if the case contents ever change. If the cases are going to eventually become an Instax display library/archive, they can be permanently labeled with what's inside. I've made some basic sample labels with some random titles and art, and there's a blank to so you can add your own text for fully customizable nameplates in your CAD software, or in some of the better slicers (Bambu Studio/Orca). Oh, and of course there are two versions of the nameplate for both capacity cases (regular and 2-pack).
All in, I've made 24 variations of these cases. The versions/variants are:
- Fuji Instax size/formats, "Mini", "Square", and “Wide”
- One and two pack/cassette capacities for each of the above
- "Stackable" and "UNstackable" versions of each of the above
- Branded and UNBranded (no words anywhere) version of each of the above
(PRO-TIP: Model file naming matches the above four bullet-points)
Also two versions of the nameplate template, with a variety of pre-built samples for you to use or to get inspiration from:
- One pack/cassette size
- Two pack/cassette size

All of this took a lot of measuring, designing, testing, re-factoring, and re-printing so if you like what you see (and appreciate the effort), please consider tossing me a Boost if you like or use any of these, and you know I love anyone who mashes the like/love button! Cheers, and happy Instax capturing!
