This 3D digital elevation model (DEM) depicts the Apollo 17 landing site in the Taurus-Littrow Valley on the Moon, showcasing its rugged terrain, including the North and South Massifs, Sculptured Hills, and surrounding craters. The model features labeled landmarks and the path of the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), illustrating key exploration routes such as Challenger Base, Camelot crater, and various geological stations.

Apollo 17, the final mission of NASA’s Apollo program, launched on December 7, 1972, landed on December 11, and returned to Earth on December 19, 1972. It was the first mission to include a scientist-astronaut, geologist Harrison Schmitt. The crew consisted of Eugene Cernan (Commander), Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module Pilot), and Ronald Evans (Command Module Pilot). Their exploration and scientific discoveries remain a milestone in lunar research, marking humanity’s last steps on the Moon.
