Alien Xenomorph Air Vent Wall Decoration

I was looking for a cool decoration for a basement wall

Thingiverse was able to beautifully serve as the basis for my idea

I have naturally linked all remixed objects of my project

My project is an Alien, specifically a Xenomorph crawling out of a ventilation shaft with a cover grille

I have now put together the best of everything I could find for it to print the file as perfectly as possible

It was important to me that the Alien could be customized as desired

I have 3 versions to choose from:

1. Version with tongue
2. Version with small inner mouth
3. Version without anything

You can print all 3 versions, the print time is not very long - and then simply try everything on. Decide what you want to use

There is a cylindrical hole in the Alien's throat. All 3 versions are adapted to fit exactly into this hole

If you just want the open mouth, plug the hole with the plug from the "without anything" version

Once you have printed the head, carefully and gently remove the supports. This also applies to the supports located inside the throat. Use pointed pliers and be careful, as the teeth can break off otherwise, and the same applies to the claws on the hands

You can also try it with the setting: "Generate supports only on the print plate" - this might simplify the matter with the head. However, since I have not tried this variant myself, I can only report on my experiences with my settings

In the original file, I had a big problem with the Xenomorph's inner mouth. The teeth were printed so tiny and separately that it was a torment to glue them on. It wasn't even possible with tweezers and was no fun at all

I searched for a long time for an alternative that had the teeth firmly attached to the jaw, meaning no gluing. After finding one, I then had to fit this mouth into my file. This took several test prints, and now everything fits perfectly. The same applies to the tongue

There are a total of 4 Alien parts (head with tongue etc., 2 hands, and tail). The base, acting as a ventilation shaft, is approximately 22cm x 20.5cm and 1cm high (1.5cm with the screws at the corners). The positions for the 4 parts are marked on the base plate and only need to be attached in the correct position. Some superglue is required for this.
The finished model is then approximately 22cm x 32cm

But before you start gluing right away, get the cover grille ready

To make it look truly realistic, I wanted to cover the ventilation shaft with a grille through which the Alien would then have to pass

I chose a honeycomb pattern and adapted it to the size of the shaft

It still needs to be realistically adjusted. Place it on the base plate and see where you still need to cut and modify it. You can see on the plate where the parts need to be positioned

Fit each part individually into the grille and only glue it at the very end

I used side cutters, pliers, and a conventional hairdryer

With the hairdryer, you can heat the material and bend it very flexibly. I snipped rough holes with the side cutters and then bent them. The hand at the bottom edge can be fitted simply by heating the grille

You can see the result in the photos. It took some time but was a lot of fun

Once everything fits and you are satisfied, first spot glue the grille and then the body parts into the holes

I printed on a P1S on the Cool Plate SuperTrack and used the original Bambu PLA filament
