Hello

Have you ever had to sand something (like a wall) and then contend with that annoying white dust :-)?

It happens to me often, so I started looking for a solution and found several very interesting Mirka articles… unfortunately at a very high price, around €80.

So I designed and printed this pad, based on this Wolfcraft model:

A pad with a 125 mm adhesive base.

I redesigned this model, integrating the possibility of connecting a vacuum cleaner you already own, and this is the result:

Since this is a model used for work, I didn't pay much attention to the final quality; I didn't activate adaptive layers or similar features.

The model consists of 3 parts:

  • The main support
  • The interchangeable sanding pad
  • The suction collector

The sanding pad I designed has holes for aspiration:

and is fitted onto the main support via a simple thread.

I'm leaving you the editable file directly in Fusion, so you can create your own customized sanding pads! You can add print profiles with your model!

To create the “adhesive” layer, I used simple Velcro, which in my case I cut with a laser; I'm leaving you the file in DXF format so you can replicate and achieve this result:

The suction collector has a diameter of 35mm. Again, I'm leaving the possibility of downloading the file to modify in Fusion so you can create the collector you need!

The pad works very well; the only problem is that the vacuum cleaner must not be too powerful, otherwise it will be difficult to move the pad to sand. In any case, it will be possible to add small holes to the body to facilitate air entry and reduce the vacuum effect!

N.B. The project was created with the tolerances of PLA and my printer! Each printer has its own tolerances, so do some tests and above all avoid leaving negative comments if you decide to change the material and the thread doesn't work! Thank you

Hi, I've uploaded a new print profile with the 150-millimeter bed. Could you let me know if it works well?
