Print Profile(5)

Description
Jan 2026 update - added some new profiles (1) a 200% larger JUMBO version of the pendant, (2) a ‘chain only’ profile, (3) a1mini compatible pendant profile, (4) and a1mini compatible chain that prints in 4 parts
*WARNINGS before printing:
- The chain is oriented around the outer perimeter of the bedplate, where there is generally less heat, due to the length/number of links; I recommend glue stick on the bed for the chain, I had several early failures due to the small surface area of the various links, which were coming loose from the bed. There are a small number of tree supports on the clasps, but the chain links print directly on the bed with no supports using glue stick. This both uses minimal support material and requires no post processing at the end. You could try a raft or brim to keep the links on the bed, however, here are the issues I experienced with those options:
- Raft fuses to the links and doesn't clean properly, I gave up half way through trying to remove it.
- A Brim is more successful but you will spend a ton of time with a deburring tool cleaning the edges of each individual link.
- You may want to also use glue stick for the pendant as well, I included a parquet pattern on backside and had a least a couple prints where some pieces came loose early.
- I was new to glue stick when I used it for this model, if you are as well, it seems like it makes a mess of your plate, but it cleans easily with hot water and dish soap, your plate returns to normal. I recommend Bambu Lab Glue Stick, which I can speak to as the one I've used: https://a.co/d/02JBYzY
- I appreciate the interest in this model, but please know going in that if you don't use glue on your bed, or a supertac bedplate (which I don't personally own) you will likely have wasted filament and failed print.
- FYI, I have also printed the pendant successfully many times without using any glue, but just making sure the filament is dry and the plate is very clean, here are some tips:
- Make sure your filament is dry (I store my filaments in dry boxes with desiccant beads to keep the humidity down to under 20% on average)
- Clean your plate with hot water and dish soap, and wipe the surface dry with a clean microfiber cloth
- Also wiping the plate with a microfiber cloth and IPA (isopropyl alcohol) afterward, or before printing is very helpful as well.
- Touch the plate by the edges, don't touch the surface with your fingertips to avoid transferring natural oils to the plate.
ABOUT THE MODEL:
This model is a Boston Celtics Pendant and Cuban Link Chain I put together inspired by similar models I've seen posted on social media here and there.
The Pendant and Chain print separately on 2 plates and there is a second clasp piece on a third plate. The come together like real jewelry, the pendant moves freely on the chain.
Borrowed the chain, hinge, an latch from this design: https://makerworld.com/en/models/907267#profileId-867524
Borrowed the medallion from this design: https://makerworld.com/en/models/166729#profileId-419579
Borrowed the clasp (2 parts) from this design: https://www.printables.com/model/328961-ultra-faceted-cuban-chain-v15/files
Borrowed the parquet pattern from this design: https://makerworld.com/en/models/87486#profileId-93655
I created the Pendant using the medallion design with an added backing, modified the parquet pattern from 3 slats to 6, inlayed the negative pattern to the bottom of the pendant which I colored with wood PLA for my print, split the chain from the pendant so they can print as separate pieces flat on the print bed.
The pendant prints well, but I did have adhesion issues with one of my PLA rolls so I used glue on the bed for subsequent prints; some painted tree supports used on a couple of critical areas of the pendant. I had the latch fuse to the hinge on at least one print when I didn't allow it to fully cool before I pulled it off the bed and worked the hinge; these two pieces print very close together. Once fully cooled, if they are touching at all they should snap apart easily and hang loose.
