Description

I was looking up blocking boards online for granny squares, and they were all so expensive!  I printed a few but wasn't able to find one large enough for the 7 inch squares that I had made, so I made this one! It's the perfect size for the Red Heart granny square yarn.
I made the pegs with 5 walls so they're nice and sturdy, and the profile prints with 8 pegs - 4 long ones and 4 short ones.
If you want it to stand up, put several of the long pegs in the front, and it'll lean nicely on them. The other upside is that it's plastic, so you can get your yarn super wet and you don't have to worry about it warping.

I'm still experimenting with how many squares you can block at a time, I've gotten 4 on the short pegs so far.

I made it with a decorative motif in the middle that matches my crochet hook & stitch marker holder. Printed together, they'd make a lovely gift set for your crocheting friends!
Thanks for looking! If you print it, let me know - I love to see pictures of what other people make! :)

Some printing notes - like I said, the pegs are 5 walls so they're pretty sturdy. I recommend watching it for the first hour to make sure there's no lifting on the corners. I wound up using gluestick on the corners to make sure they wouldn't lift, and it worked out well.

I really like the design for this blocking board, so much that I modified it a bit to work better with my steamer. I noticed the pegs had no way of staying securely in place standing straight after adding the tension of multiple squares, so I of course just printed a second one to secure them straight. After steaming for a bit I noticed that the bottom board was bending due to the heat, I think the only way to fix that would be to make the board thicker. With the longer pegs I made I currently have 15 squares on my board, and I know I can get a bunch more on there! Great little design, just needs a few tweaks to get it to be perfect for me. Thanks for the design!

ohhh I love your modifications!! I wonder if printing it with PETG would make it more impervious to your steamer? I’ve just been doing it by dunking them in water and throwing them on there, heh. I can try to whip up a thicker one to see if that’d work :D (Also oooh I haven’t tried the flower power yarns yet! I love the regular granny square yarn and just finished a hexagon bag in the grape granny color :D)

The printing went well and the board is frankly very pretty Unfortunately none of the pegs fit into the holes, that's the big disappointment I don't understand why I'm the only one who had this bizarre problem I reprinted the pegs alone with another filament, and there they fit, perfect Thank you for this model
