Description

Hot Glue Repair Mold for Frayed iPhone Chargers

Tired of replacing worn-out iPhone charging cables? This custom-designed mold lets you reinforce and repair frayed Lightning cables with hot glue, extending their lifespan with a durable, flexible coating. No more exposed wires or unreliable connections—just print, cast, and protect!

How to Use:

1️⃣ Print – 3D print the mold using your preferred filament (PLA, PETG, or ABS recommended).
2️⃣ Rub with Cooking Oil – Lightly coat the inside of the mold with cooking oil to prevent the glue from sticking to the plastic. I used a q-tip for this step
3️⃣ Fill with Hot Glue – Insert your frayed cable into the mold, then carefully fill it with hot glue. Allow it to fully cool before removing.

💡 Tip: For added strength, use high-temperature hot glue.

I used DP270 with this mold and some small clamps . plugged the two small holes with a few small pieces of o-ring to prevent leaks. Unfortunately I did not put enough oil or mold release on it for the mold to survive the cable extraction. the design could use a bit more room around the casing of the cable to allow better flow, worked well enough to be a success!
