Serial Killers series - Pietro Pacciani

Monster of Florence, Italian serial killer or killers who murdered at least 16 people in the hills outside Florence between 1968 and 1985. The case inspired Thomas Harris’s novel Hannibal (1999).

In 1994 Pietro Pacciani, an itinerant farm labourer, was convicted of murdering seven of the eight couples. Pacciani’s conviction was overturned, however, and a new trial was ordered. Police then began to suspect that the crimes had been committed by a group led by Pacciani, but he died before the second trial could begin. Subsequently two of his alleged accomplices were convicted of the murders.

Il mostro di Firenze, serial killer che ha o hanno assassinato almeno 16 persone sulle colline fuori Firenze tra il 1968 e il 1985. Il caso ha ispirato il romanzo Hannibal (1999) di Thomas Harris.

Nel 1994 Pietro Pacciani, un bracciante agricolo itinerante, è stato condannato per l'omicidio di sette delle otto coppie. La condanna di Pacciani è stata tuttavia annullata e un nuovo processo è stato ordinato. La polizia ha quindi iniziato a sospettare che i crimini fossero stati commessi da un gruppo guidato da Pacciani, che però è morto prima che il secondo processo potesse iniziare. Successivamente due dei suoi presunti complici sono stati condannati per gli omicidi.
