Spiral Fidget Rubberband Racer

Description
🌀 Spiral Fidget Rubberband Racer🚀
A unique toy that combines a spiral fidget and a rubberband-powered racer!
The Inspiration ✨
As a child, I played with my mother’s wooden sewing machine spools, small nails, rubber bands, and straws. I even filed gear-like edges into the spool’s sides for better traction! Now, my friend Karlheinz designed a 3D-printable version, and after many many test prints, we perfected a smooth-running, easy-to-assemble racer. In combination as Spiral Fidget it is very nice to wind it through your hands relaxing. Huge thanks to Karlheinz for making this possible! 🙌
How It Works 🎡
Using a 3D printer, you can create this rubberband-powered fidget spiral racer that moves like a tiny vehicle. It consists of three parts:
- Outer Spiral Fidget 🌀
- Features a textured profile for improved grip on floors and carpets.
- Can be equipped with an additional rubber band along the outer edge to enhance traction on smooth surfaces.
- Inner Spiral Fidget 🔄
- Can be used independently with a rubber band for a unique racing experience.
- Pen (e.g., a fineliner or straw) 📏
- Guides the rubber band through the inner spiral.
- Features a rounded cap for easy threading of the rubber band.
- Includes a second rounded section to secure and center the rubber band when wound up.
How to Play 🎯
- Thread a household rubber band through the inner spiral using the pen.
- Secure one end of the rubber band to a hook.
- Insert the penthrough the other end of the rubber band to hold it in place.
- Wind up the rubber band tightly while holding the racer.
- Release it on the carpet and watch it zoom away! 🏎️
Pro Play Hints 🦾
- Use smaller rubber bands to add them to the tires for improved grip running on smooth floors, tiles or table surfaces.
- Unbalance the sides using only one rubber band a side, to run unexpected paths. 🔀
- Setup some ramps to make it jump over it. ⚡
- Have you ran the Inner Fidget with Pen only?
Printing Hints 🖨️
- Recommended layer height: 0.12mm for smooth motion and rounded edges.
- PLA filament works best for durability and aesthetics.
- Experiment with color combinations for a stunning visual effect.
