Description

The Token Spellbook – SwingOut Token Caddy is a compact and convenient way to organize your Magic: The Gathering tokens. You can choose the number of compartments you’d like, and each compartment snaps securely into the main case. When you’re ready to pull out your tokens, the compartments swing out for quick and easy access. Each compartment holds up to 18 sleeved or unsleeved tokens. (Pick the right print profile.)

Future Variations

What’s Included

  • Case (1x) – The main housing for your Token Spellbook.
  • Compartment (1x per plate) – Each plate prints a single compartment. Print as many as you need.

Recommended Print Settings

  1. Material:
    • PLA is recommended. Other filaments may work.
  2. Layer Height & Nozzle Size:
    • Use your standard 0.4 mm nozzle with a 0.12 mm layer height. This low layer hight is needed to prevent unsupported overhangs on the edges of the print and for smoother rounded edges.
  3. Arachne Wall Generation:
    • Make sure to enable Arachne wall generation (or the equivalent in your slicer). This helps with thin walls and ensures a more consistent result around the hinge areas.
  4. Supports:
    • No supports or rafts/brims needed for this design.
  5. Cooling & Warping Prevention:
    • Disable the AUX fan if you experience warping, as excess cooling can cause part shrinkage or warping at corners.

Printing Instructions

  1. Print the Case:
    • You only need to print 1 case.
  2. Print the Compartments:
    • Print 1 compartment for each section you want.
    • Each compartment is identical, so you can reuse the same .stl/.3mf file.
  3. Color Choices:
    • Feel free to print each compartment in different colors for organization or aesthetics.
    • Printing them all in a single color offers a more uniform look.

Assembly

  1. Case and Compartments:
    • Once printed, each compartment snaps into the case via the built-in hinge.
    • Gently align the compartment’s hinge pin with the case’s socket and apply light pressure to click it into place.
  2. Swapping Compartments:
    • All compartments are identical, so you can rearrange or replace them as you wish.
    • Take care if you swap them often; repeated snapping in and out could wear down the hinge over time.

Enjoy your new Token Spellbook!

If you have any questions, tips, or pictures of your finished prints, feel free to share them in the comments section on Makerworld. Happy printing and happy gaming!

Release Notes / Changelog

This is where I keep track of relevant changes to this model and my reasoning behind them.

Version 24 - Sleeved Tokens

There is now an additional print profile for sleeved cards and tokens. So even your precious tokens with they sleeves fit in the Spellbook now.

Version 14 - Slightly Bigger Compartments

In this release, I have increased the internal compartment size to 8.4 mm. I did this to support packing two of @MakerSphere's tokens or counters side by side. These tokens and counters are quite amazing and I would love to support them with this Spellbook. Considering that this is a very new model, I did not mind changing the default dimensions. I don't intend to change the default dimensions as easily going forward. In the future I will choose to introduce variants instead because other people might have already printed parts and I want them to stay compatible.

Besides that, have chosen to. combine all compartment counts into a single print profile to reduce the effort needed to upload a new release. You can now find all cases (from 1 up to 7 compartments) in the one print profile.

Version 12 - Initial Release

This is the initial release of the Token Spellbook.
