Description

Analog camera scale model - inspired by Olympus OM-1, in my opinion the most beautiful SLR camera out there.

Printed with 0,4 mm nozzle on A1 mini stock textured plate. No AMS needed - there are 3 plates using 3 different materials. Ideally silver, matte black and translucent.

Model is small scale but still has many functions: shutter button moves the mirror up, film advance lever is spring loaded, film rewind crank is printed in place to unfold and rotates as well as the shutter speed selector. Lens has a bayonet mount, print in place rotating focusing ring and spring loaded click stop aperture ring.

Keychain simpler version available here:

Please, be patient when assembling and understand the tight tolerances - if something is loose or too tight, try to grind or shave a bit of the material or use a small amount of glue. I didn't need to use any of these, but needed many tries to achieve it. If you have issues, let me know and I'll try to help.

There are some spare parts printed on the plates in case something goes wrong.

I suggest you don't fix the “non manifold edges” warning - it doesn't print OK if this is fixed, with warning it prints perfectly fine (film rewind crank).

Thanks for the comment and boosts! I didn't try it at 200% bit it indeed looks good. Did you need any glue to put it together?

Yes, I had to glue the pieces together. I split the “screws” in half and glued them together to make them stronger. Fantastic model!

Thank you for your comment! Did you have any issues printing and assembling it? The glass element looks really nice and smooth. However, I see the lens mount got chipped :) I hope you still enjoyed putting it together.

Everything works perfectly. I'm using 0.2mm Nozzle, it takes me over 10 hours but worth it! I already fixed the mount, it works so well. I will print more for my friends. Looking forward to more cameras, haha :-D

I've made a keychain version - smaller and easier to assemble. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1327146-film-camera-keychain-no-ams-needed#profileId-1364747

Amazingly detailed. I was surprised by the number of functional bits on something this small. Would've been better if the film-rewind crank isn't wobbly when extended though.

Hey. I plan to, however, it will need to be from fewer parts - this one is more like a "kit-card" or model assembly. Too fragile for a key-chain. Did you print this one?

do you use any tools to put this together? I’m finding it really difficult and it’s just hurting my fingers

Yes, for some stuff it's useful to press it against a flat surface and somewhere to use a small screwdriver to push small bits into groves, but all in all it shouldn't be that challenging. However, at the time I designed this I wanted to follow how the real cameras are put together and I had much less design knowledge and experience than today. Maybe it would be worth revisiting this one and make it more like a build model and less similar to a real camera in some aspects. I hope you'll still enjoy putting it together and you'll be happy with the final result.

I ended up using the end of a pencil to push in some of the pieces against a table, and managed to get it to work. I’m quite happy with the finished result, and now know that if I make it again there are things I can use to put it together thanks for the amazing print- it is the perfect gift for my photography loving friend

Thanks for the rating and feedback! I'm glad it gets used also for such cases as yours. Did you scale it up or kept it small? Just curious. And what was your history project about? Analog cameras?

I kept it at its normal size and the project was about the indépendance of Singapore and about a Australian who took photos of the whole war - thx for asking (the project was a while ago so I don’t remember it that wellll my bad)

Simply great, so much love for detail. Looks super great and amazes everyone who sees it. The highlight is the movable mirror when triggered. Thank you very much for such a beautiful model

hi, can you make a keychain model from Fujifilm XHalf, it's kinda cute and iconic looks like Rollei 35

Thanks for the comment! It's easier for me to create a model if I own a camera. I do some measurements and have it all the time in front of me. Do you think there would be broader interest in such a model? It's quiet a new camera - still produced even.
