Description

“THE Maker Point” aka "Maker Coin" aka "3d printers gold" – Now in Physical Form! 🏆🪙 only 4g
(4.5g with brim) 📏 Coin Size Conversion Guide in the bottom

As we all know, gold isn’t the real currency in the maker world… Maker Points are. 💰 Some of us chase them, some just enjoy the ride, but let’s be honest—they’re an awesome bonus for us makers, especially for those of us shopping at the Bambu Store!

Now, why did I make this? Well, I wanted to introduce a "Maker Economy" at home—basically, my sons can earn these as allowance and "buy" prints from me. Bigger prints? More coins. Simple, right? It’s a fun way to gamify 3D printing and teach them a bit about earning, spending, and maybe even patience (though let’s be real, that last part is wishful thinking 😂).

I also wanted to show some appreciation for Bambu Lab and MakerWorld. I know they’re under a bit of heat right now—I’m not diving into that discussion (ahem)—so I’ll just leave that there. But yeah… I searched for a good Maker Point design, and while I found plenty of pretty ones, none of them quite felt "to scale" (or properly proportioned, for that matter). They didn’t quite capture the look and feel of a true physical replica of the digital coin.

So, here it is! A Maker Point, properly proportioned, looking exactly how I imagined it should. If you want a tangible version of the digital currency we all secretly (or not-so-secretly) love, give it a print!

🖨️ Printing Tips:
✔️ Print standing up for the best detail and surface quality.
✔️ Try silk gold or metallic filament for that premium look!
✔️ Want that true coin feel? Print in resin or high-detail FDM with a 0.2mm nozzle.
✔️ Feeling fancy? Paint in some black wash to bring out the details.
✔️ Smooth plate and ironing!

📏 Coin Size Conversion Guide – Adjusting This 44mm Coin to Other Sizes

Need to resize your Maker Point for different purposes? Use this guide to scale up or down easily!

Target SizeConversion FactorNew Diameter (mm)
Larger Variant (Collector's Edition)125%55mm
Standard Coin Size (Approx. US Silver Dollar)90%40mm
Smaller Variant (Compact Carry Size)75%33mm
Tiny Token Size (Keychain/Charm)50%22mm

💡 How to Use This:

  • Scaling Up (e.g., 44mm → 55mm): Multiply by 1.25.
  • Scaling Down (e.g., 44mm → 22mm): Multiply by 0.5.

🔧 Example: If your 44mm model needs to be 40mm, do:
44mm × 0.9 = 40mm

Now you (and everyone else) can easily adjust this Maker Point to different sizes! 🚀

Happy printing! 😊
