Description

Have you ever wanted the beauty of the SGI Indigo² on your desk but don't have the coin for the vintage mid 90's graphics power house? look no further than the SGI indigo² Enclosure for your Mac Mini. The entire model is scaled to the same dimensions as an actual Indigo². Some details were slightly enlarged to print with a .04 nozzle.

I myself have an M1 mac mini with a hard drive enclosure / hub. I wanted to capture the the same functionality of an original indigo². The hard drive enclosure/hub snuggly slides into the top bay allowing all of it's ports to be easily accessed. The whole door mechanism is slid into place just like an original Indigo².  Accompanying it's beautiful design are feet which are replicas of the original feet. The feet slide into holes in the bottom of the case meaning the case can be used with or without feet.

For the purple I tried to find a color that matched with the original purple. I decided on the Dark Raspberry PLA Max offered by Hatchbox. The color and sheen are almost an identical match.

The silver is Metallic Finish Gray also by Hatchbox.

The black is Bambu Labs Basic PLA.

Due to the size of this model is will consume most of a roll of that dark raspberry. I was having issues printing the case as one whole piece (weird g code issues). After the print failed twice I elected to split the model in half. The alignment pins don't really click. I would recommend gluing the model, however with the mac mini and hub installed it seems to keep the model together in one piece.

**INDIGO² LOGO IS A STICKER I CUT, THIS IS NOT IN THE MODEL**

I hope you enjoy this model as much as I do. This was the second project i've created while learning CAD on my free time. I scaled all of the measurements to the best of my abilities using the best pictures I could find.

Have fun printing!,
