Description

These unique bench dogs with saddles are designed to hold standard 1x3 dimensional lumber (~0.75 inches) on edge to make a fast and flexible sacrificial platform that have dozens of practical applications for cutting, drilling, gluing, clamping, and finishing on your workbench or multifunction table (MFT). 20 mm and ¾ inch (19.05 mm) diameter versions available in separate print profiles. 

 

Printed in parts and some minor assembly required. Refer to the diagram below. Use a flat head screwdriver to secure the bolt in place. 

 

 

PLA was sufficiently strong to hold 1x3 stock. Consider printing in PETG for more strength.

Really impressive. The design inherits several well-engineered features of a well-known commercial version. Most important is the buttresses on the vertical walls, which should militate against creep under the board's pressure. (Even so, with PLA, it's crucial to avoid direct sunlight or high heat). Also note the rounded leading edges, which should help with the initial 'entry' of the board.
