The Infinite Roll Rack
Print Profile(2)

Description
This is a remix of “The Infinite Wine Rack” by @dewgenenny that I have adapted (scaled down) for storage of my Cricut Smart Vinyl rolls instead of wine bottles. Many of the other vinyl roll designs I found for this use case seemed to take too long to print and/or use too much material, and/or were a difficult to use. This isn't a perfect solution for vinyl rolls, but works great for me to get back precious drawer space that previously was overrun by vinyl rolls. The modular aspect was quite appealing to me as well since I can expand this to hold as many rolls as I could ever need. This rack is strong and sturdy.
The original design is made up of three parts:
- Hexagonal Ring - two needed per vinyl roll, one for front and one for back
- Inside Connector - needed for joining two rings together and extending the roll holder (expansion connector)
- Outside Connector - needed for joining two rings together but not extending the roll holder (finishing connector)
The parts pressure fit together. I have not had to use any glue so far. Certain filaments may be a bit too tight. Users have reported issues with Silk PLA whereas PLA Basic or Matte do not have any fitment issues. You may want to perform a test print beforehand.
Notes:
- The inner diameter of the hex ring is 51mm. I find this to be a good size for the Cricut rolls I buy, you may want to adjust the sizing for your rolls if you prefer a different size/fit.
- For the Smart Vinyl, I like to tighten the roll a bit to decrease the overall diameter of the roll, then insert into the ring and allow the roll to expand. It allows for a tighter fit and the hole rack can be moved a bit more easily without losing any rolls.
- For the thinner rolls (3M from Amazon and Cricut Premium vinyls) they do fit a bit looser, but still a nice solution without changing anything with the model or having different size racks.
- I'm new here, please let me know if I've made any mistakes.
- Full credit to the original design goes to @dewgenenny.
Thanks for looking, happy printing!
