Description
I love watches and I recently found a calculator watch at a thrift shop. I loved the utility and the look of the keypad but found the case of the watch a tad ugly. This is a work in progress with further writeup coming. If you like this project let me know and I'd love to make more mods.
After 28 case prototypes all of the components come together and work properly in my prototype. Note that the membrane keypad electronics require fine tolerances for layer height. I used .08 “extra fine” with 3 walls and 20% infill & .4mm nozzle.
I suggest using AMS for making support removal easier. The part that supports the keypad has to be thin for the electrical contacts to function and will therefore be delicate. I used BambuLab Silver Basics PLA for the watch case and generic PETG for the support interface which makes support removal a breeze with some needle nose pliers.
The assembly process is somewhat straightforward. The teardown of the donor watch is not.
