Sturdy Modular Filament Spool Rack Fully Printable
Print Profile(64)

Description
Introduction
This is a fully 3D-printable filament spool rack. It has some heft to it, making it strong and durable. It’s modular and can be built horizontally or vertically, so you can customize it to fit your available space. I store my rolls in 3-liter ziplock bags with desiccant to keep the filament dry. There are also optional parts, such as drawers, shelves and labels, and some users have even created their own custom parts. Please check them out and send me a private message if you have a suggestion for a new module. Thanks!
Building Guide
Standard Printers
- The easiest method is to start with the Filament Rack - Mega Pack - All Standard Parts print profile.
- If you want to build straight up you will need the rack part and two braces for each level.
- The top level can be finished off with the end caps to make it neater, and if you build tall you can add the end feet for stability.
- If you want to build sideways, connect two columns with the top connector at the top level, middle connecting feet at the bottom, and each level should also use an alignment connector to line them up perfectly and add some connectivity.
- The bottom rack part is also available in additional widths: 4-spool version for H2D printers and 2- or 1-spool versions if you don't have the space for a standard 3-spool column.
- Lastly, you can compliment your rack with drawers, shelves and labels.
A1 Mini Printers
- The easiest method is to start with the A1 Mini - Filament Rack - Mega Pack - All Standard Parts print profile.
- Lastly, you can compliment your rack with drawers, shelves and labels.
FAQ
- How to reach me (the designer)?
Since there's so many comments on this model, questions easily get lost. Best way to contact me is by a direct message. Let me know if you have any questions or feature requests. - Can you connect a standard rack to a A1 Mini rack horizontally?
Both versions of the rack are compatible; the middle connecting feet and alignment connectors can connect both versions of the rack. There's only one modification that needs to be made, the top level of the A1 Mini rack needs to use Filament Rack - Bottom for 2 Spools print profile to make their heights even and be able to use the top connector. Is it possible to print filament rack parts with 0.6 and 0.8mm nozzles?
Several users have reported successful prints with larger nozzles than the standard 0.4mm nozzle. I did tests with 0.6 and 0.8mm nozzles; while the parts did look good, I did find the fit to be tighter. I would also recommend decreasing the amount of walls when using a 0.8mm nozzle, at least in parts with 3 walls.
- Is there a video that shows how to assemble the rack?
I don't make videos myself, but there's an excellent YouTube Shorts video by GRM3D: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/sx_bh01fITY
Updates
July 12, 2026: Updated the standard packs for A1 Mini printers because after software updates some people had problems printing them. Thanks!
February 8, 2026: Updated the print profiles for the drawers; they were pretty rough towards the top. New print profiles are much smoother. Thanks!
February 7, 2026: By popular request, print profiles for flat tops are now available. There are versions for 1-4 spools wide modules. The tops are fully flat and don't add any connections. Check out the big shelf module if you want to connect horizontally or vertically.
January 15, 2026: Added print profiles for wider drawers that are 4 spools wide, to be printed on H2 series printers. Also added a 1-spool wide bottom rack profile for A1 Mini printers.
January 10, 2026: Added print profiles for Skådis compatible side braces that can be used with the drawers module. Standard version and a smaller version for A1 Mini printers.
October 13, 2025: Added STL files for all the newest print profiles.
September 16, 2025: Introducing Ikea Skådis compatible side braces. These replace the regular braces with Skådis boards that can hold tools and other knick-knacks. These ends pieces are available for the regular sized rack, and a smaller version is available for A1 Mini printers. Thanks for trying them out!
August 29, 2025: Check out @HPInvent's print profile (in the list) for a wall clip that secures tall filament racks to a wall for added stability. This has been a frequent request, so it’s great to see it added. Thanks!
August 11, 2025: I added new print profiles; a mega pack for standard printers and a mega pack for A1 mini printers. The packs contain all standard parts: rack, braces, end caps, top connectors, end feet, middle connecting feet and alignment connectors. Also, made a small tweak to the top connector so that it matches the end cap better. Thanks for all the support!
July 7, 2025: I added some new modules for the rack. There are now drawers! There's a standard version and a narrower version compatible with A1 Mini. I've also added profiles for a big shelf. The standard version fits three spool boxes standing up, and when laying them flat you can fit a refill box. There's a smaller version for A1 Mini available. I've added a wider version of the bottom part that fits 4 spools, this one only works on H2D printers. Thanks for downloading!
April 2, 2025: There's now profiles available for individual spool labels. There's one with custom text labels that uses AMS, and one with plain labels if you want to use sticker labels, etc. Thanks for downloading!
March 30, 2025: I added two new profiles for new widths. First one supports two spools and the other one spool. These are perfect if you don't have space for another column with 3 spools and want to add something narrower. Thanks!
February 17, 2025: A smaller version of the rack has been added for A1 Mini printers. It holds two spools of filament per unit. It's fully compatible with the standard version, so you can use the same end caps and alignment connectors. And is the same height as the standard version so it connects to them when you build sideways.
Thanks for printing, downloading and boosting!
