The American F-35B is a short take-off/vertical landing fighter jet, derived from the F-35A. It is used by the United States Marine Corpsand the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom. The F-35B strike fighter (known as the Joint Strike Fighter, or JSF, during development) is a single-engine strike fighter developed by Lockheed Martin, capable of short take-off/vertical landing. It belongs to the fifth-generation of fighter jets, has a combat radius exceeding 1000 kilometers and can cruise supersonically. On December 18, 2007, the first F-35B Joint Strike Fighter rolled off the assembly line at Lockheed Martin's factory in Fort Worth, Texas. In June 2008, the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter successfully completed its maiden flight.
