Description

New version of side filament spool holders with filament guide for bambulab printers, designed to fit on the side of X1C, P1S and X1E printers.

  • No any other hardware needed.
  • It is designed for printing without support.
  • It can be printed with PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS…

The holder has two versions, the version for the left side of the printer (when viewed from the front of the printer) and the version for the right side of the printer.

Instructions for right side spool holder:

  1. Filament Holder is designed to fit on the right side of the printer, and there is no need to use any external accessories. To attach the new holder, unscrew the screws from the original location. The screw position is shown in the figure below.

    2.  Once we have two screws from the original location, we can move to the right side of the printer (when viewed from the front). Here it is necessary to unscrew the short screw at the corner of the printer. Subsequently, a new holder can be attached with screws, which we have obtained from the original location to the holes shown in the photo below. Note: Screwing longer screws into these holes may go more difficult for the first time.

     3.  In the following step, it is necessary to fix the filament guide to the filament holder. Filament guide is slid into the holder and attached with a short screw that remains from the previous step. The mounted Filament Guide is shown in the following figure.

      4. In the last step, PTFE tube is inserted into the prepared hole at the Filament Guide as shown the image below. If PTFE tube is very loose in Filament Guide, you can use a drop of superglue.

Instructions for left side spool holder:

  1. The assembly procedure of the left side spool holder is very similar to the above. The holder is mounted in the holes of the original spool holder with original screws, that are shown in the figure below.

     2. To attach the Filament Guide in Spool Holder it is necessary to use a single M3 screw of a maximum length of 8 mm or you can use black short screw from the original bag “For extruder” which comes with the printer.

     3. In the last step, PTFE tube is inserted into the prepared hole at the Filament Guide as shown the image below. If PTFE tube is very loose in Filament Guide, you can use a drop of superglue.

Congratulations, that's all. You have successfully made and installed a new filament holder V2.0. I will be very happy for every support of my models !

this is the side you'll want to pick if you have the new AMS Hub for the AMS2 Pro since it fits perfectly (hard to get a good picture of the back at this point, but hopefully that helps!)

Hey Joey, lol, mine always fell to the floor too. It took me a while to choose one. My printer is as close to the wall as the power cable allows (approx. 5 cm). Search for "Poop Bucket (print quickly/Filament-saving/P1/X1)" from DDWMAKER. I printed the small version and attached a little magnet. I am perfectly happy with it. Good luck!

Spool holder right side of the printer
I was looking for a right hand side spool holder to use with my AMS hub since the hub has the inputs on the right. Maybe I have mounted the hub incorrectly, but the hub conflicted a tiny bit with one of the screw holes. No problem though just shaved a few mm off the end of the spool holder. Love that all screws are reused from original holder. Printed with grey Bambu basic PLA with no changes to print profile. It's sturdy, looks very clean and works great.

I am brand new to this stuff, and don't know what I'm doing. When I asked for advice I was told not to use the hub for an external roll, so I connected the hub to the 4-in-1 ptfe adapter.... which seems pointless. have you had any troubles with this setup?

I have not had any trouble. I imagine it can be difficult with more flexible or very brittle filament, but I have not had any issues with PLA or PETG.

@Navyshark What tool did you use to shave it down? I have the same issue and tried a few things but couldn't quite make a big enough dent for the effort

I was worried about whether or not the spools would rotate freely because almost every other model seems to have an over-engineered roller solution. But, it turns out the worry was unfounded, as this works great! Thanks for sharing this!

Do you mind sharing the splitter you're using? I didn't realize the spool holder on the opposite side would just barely conflict with the AMS 2 Pro Hub and I'm thinking of printing it the orientation you did but looks like I need that splitter for it to work well (@jakubk something that'd be nice to add to the description by the way, great design though!)
