Description

Bambu tell me I should stop name it GEN1 2 3….since it's completely redesign the model

so I'll call this one AMS Saver MAX ,lol

-----

this AMS saver isn't compatible with hydra mod

theres too little space left if I make it work with hydra, so i just gave it up

my design is heavily dependent on feedbacks

your (good/bad) feedback will benefit everyone  :)

when there's something isn't work as it should

we fix it :)

-----

what took me so long ?

basically I just don't have any issues after GEN3

my filament only got caught once in the past 6 weeks , and it was a human error by didn't lock the spool in place :P

some PLA footing become loose after few week , I did replace it with PETG-CF

another set printed with PETG had no issues

but since I want it to be set and forget

I just redesign it completely

and address some issues from the feedback as well

this is not an “upgrade”

don't “upgrade ” it if you don't have any problems with your GEN3

yes it should be better

but there's no reason to spent hours printing for a new one if GEN3 works for you :)

-----

this design use MR105zz ball bearings , it also come with design without bearings

had both tested, can't tell any difference but personally I like bearing everywhere

I did had some feedback about GEN3 got stuck with some brands of full spool

so this one is about 2mm thiner at chain

and 4.5mm thiner at guide head

the footing is attach to the gear box

there's no connection between chain and footing , it should not become loose from time to time

the chains are wider, it limits the movement between left and right

keep the filaments right at center

hopefully it will handle larger hole spool holder better

( I tested with the largest hole spool I got, but I know there are some crazy spools out there , I'll wait till i heard some feedback from those user)

-----

what does AMS Saver do

keep the PTFE tube close to the filament , keep it right at center

it reduce the chance of filament get caught between spool holder

the chain is more like a fishing rod , most of the time it shouldn't touch the filament

it work like a buffer , reduce pressure from the gears

when it got pull down, it hold the spool in place, then it goes back up again

( sorry i should learn how to take video someday )

the feeder nut just like most saver out there

it protects the AMS feeder from wear out

-----

as always

please try it with one set first

every filament can have different shrinkage

make it 100.8 if is too tight

if you run into any issues

just send me a message , i'll get back to you as soon as i can

and thank you for keeping this project going

install the feeder nut from back

make sure the feeder nut click into the plastic under it

use the footing as a handle to push it into place

it should be tight , make sure isn't moving

now install the PTFE tube

it goes right into the nut

and install those two little wheels

UPdate Feb 16, 2025 : seems the PTFE head still more reliable with no bearings , so I remove the none bearing wheels head and add two PTFE head

UPdate  Feb19, 2025: change the bearing wheels to more rounded , thanks to feedback from TurboIT, it dose work better

just let me know how it goes and I'll adjust it when needed

UPDate Mar 28, 2025 : add larger bearing wheel head print profile, use this one if you got stuck with original head, try use PETG for this one,  some of my PLA wheels fails after few weeks of abuse
