Franklin Unbound: A Pedestal-Free Tribute

 Bring a piece of history to your 3D printer with this detailed bust of Benjamin Franklin, one of America’s most influential Founding Fathers. This model is an adaptation of the original sculpture found at The Met in New York, faithfully recreated for 3D printing by Scan The World. With a stately presence and finely detailed features, this bust makes for a great display piece in homes, offices, classrooms, or libraries.

This version has been optimized for improved printability, stability, and material efficiency, ensuring a smooth and reliable print on BambuLab printers. This version remixes my last remix  even further by removing the pedestal, making it a bust only print. 

Model Enhancements & Customizations: This is a modified version of the Benjamin Franklin bust scan originally created and available on MyMiniFactory (link to original model).

The following modifications have been made to improve print performance and material efficiency:

• Removed the pedestal entirely: This model removes the pedestal that exists in the original. This saves filament for people who want a larger print of Benjamin Franklin and don't want a pedestal in their print.
• Optimized Infill: Tweaked the infill settings to reduce material usage while maintaining strength, making the print more efficient without sacrificing durability.
• Improved Support Structures: Custom supports were redesigned to prevent overhang issues and minimize post-processing cleanup, ensuring smoother surfaces with fewer artifacts.

These modifications ensure that the bust prints cleanly, efficiently, and with optimal strength, making it ideal for both personal display and educational purposes.

Printing Recommendations: To achieve the best results, consider the following:

• Filament: PLA, PLA+, PETG (I recommend a PLA Marble or matte filament for an authentic statue look)
