Description
Vintage model inspired by the iconic Italian industrial design lamp “PARENTESI” created in 1971. A lamp capable of 360° rotation and vertical sliding on a steel cable.
The central element of the lamp is a metal tube shaped with a particular form whose main function is not aesthetic (which inspires the name of the lamp), but structural. An essential component is a steel cable which, simply hooked to the ceiling, is kept under tension by a weight near the floor. The shaped tube is invested in the cable and would tend to slide downwards if its particular shape did not trigger a game of friction that prevents it from sliding. In fact, to change the height of the lamp, simply slide the tube (the parenthesis) on the cable; once released, the tube stops by itself in the desired position, without the need for any clamping system.
The lamp consists of very few components: a braided steel cable of 1.5mm (purchased on Amazon complete with steel tensioners, alternatively it is possible to print a 3D printed tensioner fitting and cap, I leave the printing files) to adjust the height from the ground, a shaped tube in the shape of a parenthesis, a round box with a cap in which to insert n°2 gym weights of 1kg each, a cylindrical cover, two sleeves designed to hold the shaped support in which to insert the lamp holder equipped with an internal switch and electrical cable with plug, for the power supply. To these components must be added a 150 Watt LED bulb.
