Sci-Fi Storage Tube - Modular

Update 2/12/2025:

• New tube type released (recessed ribs)
• Anti-twist bottom cap released.
  • The original bottom cap allowed free rotation of the caps while clipped together. The new anti-twist bottom cap keeps the bottom and top caps from rotating opposite each other. Print whichever version you desire.

This system of storage tubes is entirely modular, with multiple pieces including:

• 2 tube lengths
• 2 tube designs
• 2 cap types (One of type each is used to allow them to click together)
• Spring clips for attaching tubes together, or temporarily storing one cap on the opposite end of the tube
• Optional handle to use in place of spring clips
• Tube coupler to allow stacking of multiple tubes.

Assembly:

The top cap can be assembled in two ways.

• With spring clips:

1.  Insert the spring clips one at a time, near the center hole and slide them out to the ends

   

    

2. Place the retention plate over the clips and insert the retention screw.

   If the screw jams up on the springs, you may need to depress the springs a little bit to allow them to seat properly. They are designed with a bit of preload to prevent excess slack.

• With the handle:

1. Insert the small ribs on the handle into the corresponding groove.

   

    

2. Rock the opposite side into the slot
3. Place the retention plate over the ends of the handle and insert the retention screw.
