Excellent build, masterful craftsmanship, as well as unique tips (TPU for example: how many mech/character/etc. models I have whose joints fail) (Too bad, I did not find the files for the weights... I would have made him a real training room) Assembly problems for me, for which the author (?) will provide explanations CORE 1. Hatch and Hatch Top The hole is so small that enlarging it breaks. I had to resort to gluing 2. Turrets I had to cut off the extra bit on the round support because the cannons would not go down 3. Upper and Lower Part Assembly It was impossible to align the notches of the upper part with those of the lower part without dropping the supports for the two small turrets LEGS 1. Plates There are several Thigh Guard Slotted / Solid / Chevron plates, but only the Chevron has the 'balls' for attachment 2. Feet There is a Foot file and a Heel file. What is the difference

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! As always with so many parts mistakes will happen. Do you have a date on the files you used? I have made updates for example the thigh guards all have ball detents added and the turrets adjusted. A wonderful clean print too what filament did you use?

Thank you for your feedback, I had not used those from the MakerWorld site, Caractacus_by_Voltage3d.rar 02-26-2024: I started by looking here (yes, I was looking for it everywhere :) ) https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4537774/files Then this one here https://www.printables.com/model/1183903-caractacus-imperial-battle-platform/files Which I used for the print illustrated by the photos Then the final site (I should have started with this one :) ) https://www.voltage3d.net/ Where I took the model for the turrets I had to modify them like the old ones (so cut the addition in the middle) because it was impossible to lower the turret Question: are the photos on your site old or new? because we see systems with balls and springs My biggest problem is the core which I had to glue because it was impossible to snap it into the notches to make it hold But I love this model :) :)

I used PETG, as it offers superior strength and wear resistance. I won't be spray painting; I plan to use paintbrushes instead.

This looks like as much fun to print and build as it will be to play around with after it's complete. I love the idea of using TPU filament between the joints as retention. Genius!

I do Hope you enjoy it, be sure to check out the YouTube instructional for assembly and tuning to get the optimal results in it's articulation. And yeah TPU was a real breakthrough, prior to that I was using springs and ball bearing which would have added about 20 bucks to the kit, TPU saves a TON!

Yes! I have checked out the instructional videos. I am loading all the parts in Orca right now. I'll print it out little by little and assemble it as I have time. I'll upload pictures as soon as I have the complete model.

Having just got my first air brush and paint set i was looking for something that was large enough that my 49 year old eyes would be able to see and would be enjoyable to print and build. When i seen this i knew i found what i was looking for! I am working with 2 A1's with .2 nozzles, .8 layer height, and smooth build plates on both. Just pulled the reactor power core parts off a plate and all i can say is WOW! Thank you for making this and making the files available. I know its going to be a slow go but I'm looking forward too it.

I'm glad you found the Caractacus, I hope you enjoy him. I deliberately designed him for the purpose of taking ones time to enjoy the full model building process just like the old days with the added layer of 3d Printing. I implore to please, please, please, post your finished project, I would love to see what the end result looks like. With a .2 nozzle and .08 layer height that will produce some GREAT results I hope you share here. And thank you so much for the YouTube Subscription, there is more coming, I have a new armor pack you can put on the Caractacus frame coming out for the separatist faction called "Vexus".

You could with some craft I imagine. You could print out the Cractacus counter parts to your knights and merge them together so they fit like you want. Or you could adapt the Caractacus parts in a 3d environment like TinkerCad to better fit your needs, hope this helps Happy printing
