  • Skadis x 1:

Description

I want to share with you my Skadis Lamp that I have designed for IKEA MITTLED. There is also an adapter for the LED-Kit 001 from Bambulab.

I have created three different sizes: short (3cm), medium (9cm) and long (15 cm).

You can print a thin layer of filament to color the light! I used red, green, purple and light blue. Try any color you want.

Also, there is a translucent lid so that you can place your favorite figures.

You can use the cable tunnel for the cables and then run them over the Skadis and hide the cables with 2 parts I created (I love cable management). Alternatively, and most probably used for the LED-Kit 001 due to the light switch, it is also possible to run the cables underneath. There is a sufficiently large recess for two cables.

Accessories

For the Lamp there are different options, depending on the number of lights you want to install.

There is an open lid, if you want to use two lights. And there is a closed lid if you want to use one light. Both lids only work on the upper opening of the models but on all sizes.

The Translucent Lid is used to display some figures or whatever you want. Be aware that the transparent lid diffuses the light a little. This lid only works for the medium and long sized lamp. As it was unnecessary to use it in the short version.

A Color Disc is used to color the light. But be aware that this makes the light darker and some colors are not working (pla matte dark blue for example). But it is just a little bit of filament so try out different ones!

I designed an adapter for the Bambulab LED-Kit 001. It is deliberately not the exact size of the lamp so that there is still enough air to reach the lamp. In my experience, the lamp gets hot if there is too little space.

What do you need?

IKEA MITTLED:

AND/ OR

Bambulab LED-Kit 001: https://eu.store.bambulab.com/de/products/led-lampen-kit-001

It is also possible to combine the LED-KIT 001 with the IKEA MITTLED light, but only for the medium and long sized lamp shade.

Installation

MITTLED

Reminder: If you want to integrate MITTLED into your smart home, do this before the installation of the lamp on the Skadis wall.

Feed the cable through the lamp shade and then through the cable tunnel. If there are two lamps, make sure that the first lamp is facing downwards. The second light is then installed in the same way but facing upwards. The lamps are placed in the middle of the lamp shade. The parts for the cable management (small plate and the slightly larger tunnel) can be installed immediately or when the lamp is hanging on the Skadis wall. However, I would put the small plate on beforehand and hold it in place so that it doesn't fly off again.

Place the adapter in the lamp shade. The four walls of the adapter should point upwards. The installation is the same for the Bambulab LED but the switch has to go through the cable tunnel. Place the switch on its side and press the on/off button to get it through the cable tunnel. Or use some tape for the button. Small hands can be an advantage here.

Print Settings

In all my profiles, I have increased the filling of the lampshade hooks to 30 percent. This guarantees that they won't break off so easily. Nevertheless, be careful when removing the inserted supports (normal). I also added a brim if necessary and inserted a profile for Bambulab Translucent PETG, which is sufficiently translucent and can be printed relatively quickly. All lamps were printed with Bambulab PLA Matte Black. I used gyroid infill for all models.
