Description

I designed this chassis while I was having a Kyosho Fantom rear shaft unused on my desk and I needed to find a use for it.

Once I had finished the first leg of the project, I extended it to make it fully mine.

At the end you have 2 models of RC pancar 1/12 chassis available in this publication

  • KYO-EF-209 based on a Kyosho Fantom Rear Shaft
  • ST1  based on printed shaft with a M3 threaded rod 161mm

You will need some bearings, some screws, some printed parts, and at the end you have the base of a rc chassis… I provided the STL in the publication for a printed chassis plate, but it really makes sense to have it cut in G10 or other rigid material (DXF file is included for this reason), as well as some guidelines if you want to change the wheelbase or the width of the chassis… In the case you are looking for the chassis plate, it is available at Factory Works in G10 (search for “silver triple”).

I've tried to make it as easy as possible within the way I named the files with prefix :

  • COM = Common parts, is used for both models
  • KYO-EF209 = parts if you base the rear train on a Kyosho EF-209 Fantom Shaft
  • ST1 = parts if you base the rear train on a M3 161mm threaded rod and printed parts

I also indicated the number of parts to print when there is more than one to print (needs2 = print twice, needs3 = print 3 times).

The 3MF file includes all the chassis parts. I had to do a different file for rims and for tires as Bambu Studio was apparently misbehaving due to the different settings apply on the plates.

I suggest to print 100% infill with 6 walls or more in PETG to get enough strength.

I could not provide the exact settings as used for the TPU tires prints as I printed them in Recreus Filaflex 60A with the support of the 3MF I found within Printables including some specific settings on the profile of Recreus. If you are willing to print them, I printed them on my A1 Mini with sequence by object, 100% infill, and one front and one rear on the plate (and I don't think it's printable in my X1C  with a shore that low, or at least without modifying it).

Please refer to the Hardware supply page in the documentation to have the material requirements based on chassis you are building

Bumpers and other bodymounts as displayed on the car with the chassis in G10 in another publication as they are tailored to the bodyshell : you can find them here

Please refer to the documentation for the build and have fun!

Update  10/02: reuploaded documentation as there was a mistake in the ball bearing list. Thanks to my follower Laurent who caught this.

Update 11/02 : added one missing part for EF209 version (Rear Left wheel carrier)

Update 13/02 : replaced one of the pictures as there was a mistake in the ball bearing references. It was already updated in the documentation on the 10/02 but the pictures still had the mistake. Also added the link for the Turismo WSC bodyshell accessories

Update 14/05 : added a link to a run video during a vintage rc event

Update 11/02/2026:

  • Chassis plate is available on STL format and DXF format as well. I did not provide chassis print profile as the principle is to use a chassis plate cut in G10 2.5mm, Carbon fiber 2mm or Kydex 3mm). Further, you may adapt your own chassis plate according to your needs. The STL file is in the CAD section, same as the DXF file.
