Description

A MagSafe iPhone filter holder with 58 mm filter thread.

Designed to be used with the original Apple MagSafe Silicon case.

Practical solution if you want to use a ND-filter or a CPL-filter on your iPhone for filming and photography.

Putting on a clear or UV-filter could also help protect your iPhone’s lenses in rough conditions like salt water.

A lightweight solution which can be attached/detached quickly.

The following is needed for assembly:

  • MagSafe compatible Magnetic base
    • I used this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B092CG8YW9/
    • Another one (Amazon US): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094BBZS4Z
    • Similar ones can also be found on platforms like Aliexpress
      • Make sure to not get the plastic ones, as they differ in thickness (the above listed are made from aluminium)
      • Look for one with the following dimensions: 5.5 cm in diameter, around 0.24 / 0.25 cm thick
      • Cut-out in model is designed for up to 5.65 cm and 0.27 cm
  • Some glue

Compatibility

  • Tested with
    • iPhone 16 Pro with original Apple Silicon Case
    • iPhone 15 with original Apple Silicon Case
    • iPhone 14 Pro with original Apple Silicon Case
  • Not compatible with Pro Max iPhones
  • Not tested with other MagSafe compatible iPhones
  • Not tested with other cases than the original Apple MagSafe Silicon cases. The original Apple Clear Case should also work though.
  • Magnetic base is not recommended to be used without case

Assembly

  • Test out, if 58 mm thread works for you as intended. The thread was created according to M58 x 0.75 ISO specification used for most photographic filters.
  • Test the fit of part 2 to part 1 and to part 3
  • Glue part 2 (textured surface up) to part 1
  • Glue part 3 (the magnetic base) to the rest
