The original cast iron Chute Flange Keeper on my Stiga snowthrower snappedānot surprising, as cast iron can be brittle under stress. Instead of waiting for a replacement, I designed and printed my own.
š ļø Printing & Durability ā Build to Last
āļøPrint with a 0.8mm nozzle at 0.56mm layer height for extra durability.
āļø PETG-CF is recommended for weather resistance and increased strength, perfect for tough winter conditions.
āļø Why Print Instead of Buy?
āļø No More Waiting ā The original part is prone to breaking, and replacements take weeks.
āļø Stronger Than Before ā This version is reinforced and customized to outlast the factory-made cast iron part.
āļø Potentially Universal Fit ā Many snowthrower parts are interchangeable, so this might work on more than just Stiga models.
š„ Post-Processing Tips
āļø Fine-Tune the Fit ā Lightly sand the mounting points for an even smoother installation if needed.
āļø Weatherproofing ā A light coat of UV-resistant clear spray adds an extra layer of protection against the elements.
ā ļø Is This Stronger Than the Original? Maybe. Maybe Not.
Sure, it's 3D printed, but donāt expect it to outlive a tank. Itās way stronger than PLA, but if you drive your snowthrower like youāre in an action movie, wellā¦ good luck. š
