Description

A set of shelf brackets, mounts and end pieces that will make your shelf look like the rear wing of a Porshe 911 GT3 RS.

The design is inspired by an original Porsche shelf made with carbon fiber galore. However, the cost of that shelf is over 3.000 euro!

Credits go to my son Mikkel for designing this in Blender. Adaptation for 3D-print was a collaboration between us - but he did all the hard work designing it… :o)

I hope you like this print. If you do, send us a boost (if you feel like it). And if you have any questions or suggestions, please let us know!

Mikkel & Christian

UPDATE 12-09-2025: There was previously an option to have end pieces with the Porsche logo. These have been taken down by MakerWorld in september 2025 following a legal request from Porsche.

UPDATE 13-02-2024: I have received questions about how the end pieces should be lined up with the shelf. The idea is that the small tabs are used to align the end pieces just under and behind the shelf, so they are almost invisible. The end pieces should be glued on before the shelf is mounted to the brackets (so you can make sure the clearance behind the shelf is ok).

Hardware

Besides the printed items, you will need the following hardware:

  • A shelf with these dimensions (W*D*H): 800 x 160 x 15 mm (we just bought a black shelf from the local hardware store)
  • 8 pairs of M6 35-40 mm bolts with nuts
  • 4 screws for wall mounting (preferably with flat heads, so they do not put unnecessary stress on the printed mounting brackets)

Of course your shelf can be longer or shorter, but you should not exceed a depth of 160 mm and a thickness of 15 mm to make sure you match the end pieces of the wing.

Details, tips and suggestions

Here are a few additional details, tips and suggestions:

  • The shelf brackets are designed in two colours. If you want only a single colour, you can change the middle colour under “objects” in the slicer.
  • The end pieces are designed with 3 small tabs. These make them a lot easier to align when gluing them on the ends of the shelf.
  • The mounting brackets are in 2 different versions: With holes for wall mount and without holes for shelf mount (with glue). The distances between the mounting points are slightly different, so they cannot be substituted (eg. if you want to screw the mounting bracket to the shelf).
  • We used two component glue to fasten the end pieces and the shelf mounts to the shelf - but any reasonably strong glue will probably work. The glue does not need that much strength.
  • The wall mounts are designed with modifiers around the wall mounting holes that change the infill to 100%.
  • The wall mounts and shelf mounts are printed standing up to make the mounting points for the shelf brackets stronger.
  • Infill is 25% rectilinear across all the model (except for the modifiers mentioned above).
  • Most of the model has 2 walls, but the shelf brackets have 3 walls for extra strength.
  • We used black and white PETG filament from Gembird.
  • The model was printed on a Bambu Lab P1S.
